Session Title: Optimization of CSNM Accreditation Field Experience
Presenter: Heather Truber, NM

Since the inception of the CSNM Accreditation program over 30 years ago the field experience section of the requirements has remained relatively consistent.  The field experience/practicum component of the Food and Nutrition Management programs is one of the keys to the success of Nutrition Managers as they go out into the workforce.  The time spent at a site being exposed to real life scenarios and experiences is invaluable to students and helps to prepare them well for the workplace.

Heather is  a Senior Advisor in Nutrition, Food, Linen and Environmental Services with Alberta Health Services having retired in 2022 from a role as Executive Director, Provincial Operational Support.  Heather provided leadership to a varied team who supported site operations at all Alberta Health Services facilities in the areas of menu management; staff education; workplace health and safety; procurement; process improvement; waste management and policy and resource development. She has previously held positions in linen and environmental services; provincial food safety and supply services as well as patient food services with operational responsibilities for facilities across Alberta and in British Columbia.

Heather is a graduate of the SAIT Food and Nutrition Management program in Calgary, Alberta and has completed certificates in Health Care Administration from the University of Saskatchewan.

She is committed to the health care food service profession through her involvement with the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management. She is the Accreditation Portfolio Manager and Continuing Education Committee member. Heather is a board member with Calgary Meals on Wheels and chairs the Governance Committee.
