Supervisor - Food & Nutrition Services

The Opportunity

 

The Supervisor – Food & Nutrition, assists the Food & Nutrition Services Section to plan, organise and monitor all phases of food production and services to residents, ancillary programs, cafeteria, and catering.

 

 

The role reports to the Manager, Food & Nutrition Services and has the following accountabilities:

  • Assists in menu planning, recipe development, purchasing, receiving, inventory control, food production, food cost control, and documents activities.
  • Participates as a member of the multidisciplinary team for the nutritional care of long-term care residents including completion of initial dietary profiles, maintaining residents diet census and snack labels, participates in resident care conferences and complete quarterly assessments as needed, documenting as required.
  • Responsible for employee’s health and safety, completes inspections, identifies hazards, resolves health and safety concerns and completes Report of Injuries.
  • Promotes health and safety policies and procedures and ensures a safe work environment and practices.
  • Works cooperatively with other divisional supervisors to resolve resident, family and staff concerns through the Total Quality Management process.

 

Ideal Candidate

  • Diploma in food services and nutrition management or a related discipline along with three years’ experience supervising food production in a health care setting.
  • Experience in a management capacity in a large, unionized government or private sector organization.
  • Experience in business management, planning, budgets, and finance.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the various components of human resource management.
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret applicable municipal by-law, provincial legislation, and related regulations.
  • An understanding of the nutritional and eating needs of the frail elderly is necessary
