Food Services Manager - Shelburne, ON
FOOD SERVICES MANAGER
Candidates are invited to apply for the full-time position of Food Services Manager at Shelburne LTC and Retirement home, a 60-bed long-term care facility located in Shelburne, Ontario.
Reporting to the Administrator, the Food Services Manager is accountable for all aspects of the dietary dept within the home. This Manager is responsible to meet the nutritional needs of residents and to ensure the effective and efficient preparation and delivery of food to the residents within legislative requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, organize, and provide high quality dietary services for residents of the home.
Apply continuous quality improvement principles to workflow, performance, production and changes to service and dietary requirements to meet legislative requirements.
Ensure the environments of all food preparation and storage areas meet Public Health requirements.
Maintain all records, statistics, and reports in accordance with policies, procedures and legislative requirements
Implement and post all regular and therapeutic menus.
Liaise and consult with residents, families, team members, government officials, and professionals in relation to resident care needs and department activities.
Responsible for all aspects of hiring and performance management of departmental staff; scheduling; staff development, including identification and delivery of department-specific orientation and training.
Preparation and management of departmental budgets; inventory management and control, including purchase of departmental supplies and equipment.
Maintenance of departmental policy and procedure manuals; full participation in leadership team activities and responsibilities, including participation on teams and committees, and reporting.
All aspects of departmental safety program management, including preventative maintenance, and repair of equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS
Post-secondary degree or diploma, preferably in a food services/nutrition management program
Membership in the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management.
A minimum of two years experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity in either dietary or support services, or both.
Previous experience in the long term care sector a definite asset.
Superb organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills.
Experience managing employees within a unionized setting.
Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety practices, principles and legislation.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
Customer-focused with high emphasis on building and maintaining relationships with clients.
Ability to read and write English as well as to understand moderately complex verbal and written instructions in English.
