About the position

Reporting to the Director of Nutrition Services, the Certified Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious meals and snacks for the residents according to Canada’s Food Guide requirements, legislative standards and regulations, and TCMH policies and procedures. The professional is responsible for all aspects of food production, food service and sanitation. This is a full-time position. After the probationary period, the successful candidate will be entitled to the TCMH benefits.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares, portions, and presents meal and snacks to be served to residents, visitors, staff and special events
  • Prepares food for therapeutic, texture modification, and preference diets
  • Organizes food preparation schedules to meet meal deadlines
  • Ensures that work area and equipment are maintained organized and clean
  • Participates in trainings and meetings ensuring the quality of the services

 

Minimal Requirements

  • Must have 2 years culinary diploma or a Red Seal Cook Certification
  • Must have Food Handler Certification
  • Long-Term Care or institutional cooking experience is an asset
