CSNM Honour and Awards - Call for Nominees


Thank you for your interest in nominating someone for a CSNM Award.  Please read through the requirements and fill out the nomination form when ready.

Members may be recipients of awards more than once excluding Life/Honorary Awards.


Honours and Awards Criteria

Award of Excellence – Recognition of an Exemplary Member

This award is to be presented to an exemplary member of CSNM in recognition of his/her prominent leadership, dedication and provision of positive support in strengthening the goals and professional development of the Society.

  • Must be an Active member of CSNM for a minimum of five (5) consecutive years;
  • Must have served at least one term of office as President of CSNM or as President of his/her respective Provincial/Territorial Chapter;
  • Must be professionally employed in Food Service and Nutrition Management or in a related field;
  • Must be nominated by a minimum of five (5) Active members of CSNM, providing a profile of the member's outstanding contributions;
  • A letter of recommendation signed by the President of the Provincial/Territorial Chapter or the immediate Past President;
  • Self-nominations are not eligible.


Certificate of Achievement

This award is to be presented to a member of CSNM in recognition of his/her leadership, dedication and positive support of the Society.

  • Must be an Active member of CSNM for a minimum of three (3) years;
  • Must have served at least one term of office as President, President Elect, Secretary/Treasurer or Portfolio Manager of one of the Board portfolios: Accreditation, Admissions and Membership, Certification, Continuing Education, Examinations or Member Communications;
  • Must have served on Provincial/Territorial Chapter Board or a committee member of either CSNM or Provincial/Territorial Chapter;
  • Must be employed in Food Service and Nutrition Management or in a related field;
  • Must be nominated by two (2) Active members of CSNM;
  • Must provide a profile of the members' contribution together with a letter of recommendation signed by the President of his/her Provincial/Territorial Chapter;
  • Self-nominations are not permitted.


Certificate of Recognition

This award is to be presented to a member of CSNM in recognition of his/her dedication and positive support of the Profession.

  • Must be an Active member of CSNM for a minimum of three (3) years;
  • Must be employed in Food Service and Nutrition Management or in a related field;
  • Must be nominated by two (2) active members of CSNM or by their employer;
  • Must provide a profile of the members' contribution together with a letter of recommendation signed by the President of his/her Provincial/Territorial Chapter;
  • Self-nominations are not permitted.


Life Member Award

To recognize a Member’s contribution to the Society by providing a member with a Life Membership in CSNM

  • Must have been an Active member of CSNM for a minimum of 20 years;
  • Must have served at least one term of office as President, President Elect, Secretary/Treasurer or Portfolio Manager of one of the Board portfolios: Accreditation, Admissions and Membership, Certification, Continuing Education, Examinations or Member Communications;
  • Must be retiring from the workforce;
  • Nominated by two Active members of CSNM;
  • Nominators must provide a profile of the members’ contribution to the Society.


Honorary Member Award

This Award is to recognize a Member’s contribution to the Society by providing a member with an annual Honorary Membership in CSNM.

  • Will be chosen by the Board as a result of significant contribution to the Society or its objectives;
  • Nominated by two Active members of CSNM;
  • Nominators must provide a profile of the members’ contribution to the Society.
  • Self-nominations are not permitted.


Corporate Member Award

This award is to be presented to a Corporate member of CSNM in recognition of the company’s dedication and positive support of  the Profession.

  • Must be a Corporate member for a minimum of  three (3) years;
  • Must have participated and supported  CSNM activities;
  • Must be innovative and supportive to the Food Industry and/or profession;
  • Demonstrate strong support of association and industry-related activities in order to promote, protect and enhance the profession and its image;
  • Demonstrate Excellence in customer service;
  • Must be nominated by two (2) Active members of CSNM.


Mentor Award

This Award recognizes outstanding mentors of students in Food and Nutrition Management programs across Canada. Winners of the CSNM Mentor Award will demonstrate the
following:

  • Current and relevant knowledge, expertise and leadership in the Food and Nutrition Management profession;
  • Personal investment of commitment, time and energy to build a mentoring relationship based on mutual trust and respect;
  • The sharing of professional experiences and lessons learned, including successes and mistakes;
  • A learning attitude coupled with self-confidence: a positive role model.
  • CSNM Mentor Award candidates will be nominated by current or former students or program directors.

Submissions include

  • A one page outline supporting the nominee’s qualifications for the Award, with a detailed description of the role that the nominee showed in mentoring and promoting the Food Service and Nutrition Management profession;
  • A letter of support from the Program Director and/or Student.

All applications become property of CSNM and will not be returned. In order to promote CSNM Awards, information included in the application may be quoted or referenced as part of the award presentation and/or published in the CSNM magazine or CSNM website. Following the close of entries, all applications will be reviewed by the Honours and Awards Committee. Incomplete applications are excluded from the review process. The Honours and Awards Committee reserves the right to grant no awards in any given year, if in the opinion of the Honours and Awards Committee, no entry is of sufficient merit. The Honours and Awards Committee reserves the right to limit the number of awards granted in any category in any given year.
