Certification - CNM


Certification reflects an advanced level of training, skills, work experience, and professional effectiveness as Nutrition Manager.  Receiving your Certified Nutrition Manager (CNM) designation is the highest level of certification in the field of Nutrition Management and will increase your influence as a leading member of the nutrition industry.

Certified Nutrition Manager (CNM) is trademarked.
Only CSNM members that have been approved by CCPC and continue to maintain their Certification through CSNM and CCPC are entitled to use the trademarked Certified Nutrition Manager, CNM.

PURSUE CERTIFICATION IN 4 SIMPLE STEPS:
  1. Achieve 4000 hours (about 2.5 years) of paid work experience as an Active CSNM member.
  2. Earn 16 Continuing Education (CE) points - 1 in each competency area with the remaining 8 from at least 4 competencies. (from the previous year)
  3. Complete the online application for Certified Nutrition Managers available at the Canadian Council of Professional Certification (CCPC) * website: http://www.ccpcglobal.com/certification/certified-nutrition-manager-cnm/
  4. Submit the completed application and fees to CCPC. Include the following documentation:
    - a current resume
    - a copy of your CSNM membership card, a signed “Consent to Release Information” form
    - a Supervisor’s Evaluation Form
    - a copy of your CSNM transcript from the last calendar year as proof of your 16 CE points
    - a photocopy of your professional diploma or designation as well as any other professional management certificates

RENEW CERTIFICATION ANNUALLY IN 3 SIMPLE STEPS:
  1. Earn 16 Continuing Education (CE) points annually (between January 1- December 31). One CE point must be from each of the 8 competency areas with the remaining 8 from at least 4 competencies. If you are missing CE points, please complete education from the archived CSNM education opportunities, located under the Members-only section of the CSNM website.
  2. The annual Renewal fee will be included in your CSNM annual membership

* CCPC Global issues professional credentials to those who qualify in their respective field. The CCPC has entered into an agreement with the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management to be the third-party examiner for the certification of the CSNM membership. Council of Professional Certification will perform periodic audits of Certified Nutrition Managers’ Annual Continuing Education.

The Certified Nutrition Manager (CNM) certificate will be issued to those who apply and are approved by the CCPC Examining Board.

The focus is:

  1. To provide an avenue for CSNM members who have studied, worked, and developed skills in the nutrition management field to receive professional recognition.
  2. To provide the public and their employers with confidence that professional managers have attained an advanced level of competency.
  3. To provide Certified Managers with encouragement and opportunity for continuing education and professional development.
