Ethical Decisions in Nutritional Care

This presentation will look at some of the ethical, moral and legal considerations that the FSM, FSS, and RD can use to develop a quality nutritional care decisions. Focus will be on ethical principles, health care acts, resident rights, questions to ask, conversational templates, and an outline of documentation needed. In addition, palliative nutritional support and comfort feeding guidelines will be defined and shared. This presentation will give you some basic tools and resources that can be used to talk with families, administrators, nursing, HCAs, and the resident with dementia.
