Business Development & Marketing Manager - Ottawa, ON
The Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT)
is currently recruiting for the position of
Business Development & Marketing Manager
. The Business Development & Marketing Manager is responsible for managing the sales of publications, advertising and sponsorship for CAOT, for leading the Product Recognition Program and for recruiting corporate associates. The Business Development & Marketing Manager is also responsible for identifying business opportunities and revenue generating initiatives to support the organization’s long term financial goals.

Required Qualifications:
University degree in Business Administration and/or Marketing;
Minimum 5 years of experience in marketing and business development;
Good knowledge about marketing principles and client development in a professional association setting;
Strong verbal and written proficiency, including professional proofreading, editing, and presentation capability;
Experience with sales;
Proven track record of success attaining new business;
Ability to interact with external and internal clients professionally;
Experience managing a team;
Ability to prioritize and manage many tasks simultaneously;
Excellent working knowledge of personal computer software including database management;
Exceptional organizational, leadership, project management and problem-solving skills;
Bilingual, French and English or willingness to become.
Recommended Qualifications:
3-5 years in a not-for-profit professional association
Experience with volunteer intensive service operations.
Description of Duties and Authority:
Within the established policies, procedures and financial guidelines of the Association, the Business Development & Marketing Manager’s key responsibilities include:
1) Marketing and sales management of publications, advertising and sponsorship;
2) Business Development management;
3) Corporate Associates & Product Recognition Program
1. Marketing and Sales Management of Publications, advertising and sponsorship
• Develop and execute a marketing and sales plan including objectives for publications, advertising and sponsorship;
• Analyze the effectiveness of sales programs; recommend and implement changes based on findings;
• Prepare sales forecasts and monthly status reports;
• Develop and build distributor network internationally;
• Liaise with, maintain relations with and provide full support to advertisers and sponsors and other business partners;
• Identify trends; determine system improvements; implement change;
• Manage all advertising bookings for print and online.
2. Business Development Management
• Manage the business development team: Provide direction, support and coaching to the business development team;
• Edit and update all materials focusing on business development, including websites, email alerts, and brochures;
• Develop or grow new markets to increase CAOT non-member dues revenue;
• Develop a strong grasp of industry trends and tie into strategic planning and forecasting;
• Collect and share industrial and market intelligence among members of staff and management
• Collaborate with other members of staff towards better execution of company’s plans and business development activities;
• Participate in community events, conferences, educational symposia, to develop relations with potential business partners;
• Network with prospective business partners, to create/nurture new/existing business in the following areas:
• Corporate Associate membership
• Product Recognition Program participation
• Advertising Sales
• Sponsorship
• Any other relationships that may arise
3. Corporate Associate & Product Recognition Program Management
• Manage the Product Recognition Program (PRP);
• Develop marketing material for the program;
• Inform and educate Corporate Associates about the program;
• Recruit new Corporate Associates and participants into the program;
• Meet with prospective clients as required;
• Review application forms;
• Quote companies on the review process and contract;
• Present client with contract terms and conditions and ensure successful completion, signing and fulfilment of payment
obligations;
• Work with PRP recipients to develop a marketing plan for the program;
• Work with the PRP Team in the review process;
• Issue the seal of recognition as awarded;
• Provide continual training and coaching to the Business Development Team.
